FOTP 2017

There are only a few days to go to the 2017 Festival of the Photocopier Zine Fair, with much preparation still to be done.

Six Moth Woman Press mini-zines will be new to this year's FOTP. The Enchanted Hair Ornaments and The Story of the Moth Masks (top row, left and centre below) were made in 2016 to coincide with the group exhibition, Eventide, at Mornington Peninsula Art Centre. In 2016 I was appointed a Winsor and Newton Global Ambassador. The Moth Women Vigilantes Rogues Gallery (top, right) was made that same year to herald the Australian launch of their revolutionary pigment markers - in fact, Winsor and Newton Australia acquired three quarters of the edition. As already documented on these pages, the three zines on the bottom row, Leaves of Absence - A mini-zine, Pressed for Time and The artist's hand were made especially for FOTP 2017.

I hope to see you there.

New MWP zines at Sticky Institute

Moth Woman Press mini-zines, The Story of the Moth Masks and The Enchanted Hair Ornaments, were originally made to coincide with the group exhibition, Eventide, at Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery, which ran from 13 May - 3 July, 2016. They are now available at Melbourne's legendary zine emporium, Sticky Institute. Within each pocket-sized zine is an original fairy tale accompanied by eight linocut illustrations. They are signed, limited editions of 100 and retail for $4.00 each.

Another Zine for Eventide

In the past week, activity on the cutting boards at Moth Woman Press reached fever pitch, as we made up zines and mini-zines for Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery and the National Library of Australia in Canberra (more about the latter in forthcoming posts).

Directly below are a series of progress views of MWP's latest mini-zine, The Enchanted Hair OrnamentsThe pocket-sized zine is now on display in the shop at MPRG, together with its sister zine, The Story of the Moth Masks and There was once... The collected fairy tales, the book that not only spawned both of them, but also Moth Woman Press. The shop will stock all three MWP publications for the duration of the group exhibition Eventide, namely 13 May-3 July.

Both mini-zines are signed, limited editions of 100 and retail for $4.00.

Your Invitation to the APW Print Fair

Pictured top: Enchanted Hair Ornament #3, 2009,
hand coloured linocut, 30.5 x 23.5 cm, ed. 30

As previously noted, the characters dominating my prints at this weekend’s APW Print Fair, namely the moth-masked women, the butterfly-winged women and the eight sisters whose elaborately coiffed tresses are adorned with enchanted hair ornaments, all appeared in my first fairy tales.

This has prompted me to include one last work in the Print Fair: the Special Edition of There was once… the collected fairy tales, which includes a small linocut, Lace Lepidopteran. It is limited to an edition of 20. Moth Eaten, another fairy tale contained in the book, was the inspiration for the print.

To preview the rest of the work, scroll down to our last blog post, Saturday, 4 October.

My prints and I will be at the Print Fair on both days; we hope you will stop by.
