Australian Print Triennial: A Handful of Highlights

The weekend was a roller coaster ride of thought-provoking talks, demonstrations, workshops and Q and A sessions, punctuated with interludes of amazing live music and countless animated conversations conducted over marvellous food. Who could ask for anything more? I can't begin to imagine the months of effort and planning that went into organising this event, especially as it's the first ever triennial. The attention to detail was astounding and we were treated like royalty.

Thankfully my own contribution (see previous post) was well received - but then I couldn't have wished for a more receptive audience. 

Julie Chambers and Kevin, thank you so much for your incredible generosity. We artists are blessed to have you our lives. Thanks also to the amazing Art Vault team, to Sasha Grishin, Helen Healey, Robyn Archer and everyone else who contributed to making the Australian Print Triennial an unqualified success.

The inaugural Australian Print Triennial

Lately I’ve been gearing up for the inaugural Australian Print Triennial. The Powerpoint I've been working on is done at last and on Friday morning I’ll board a flight to Mildura. At 3.30 pm on the following afternoon, Mini Graff, Geoffrey Ricardo and I will speak on a Q and A panel chaired by Sasha Grishin, The Art of Politics Through Print (the opening slide from my presentation is pictured above).

Some real luminaries of the printmaking world are among the presenters and the entire program looks marvellous.

The Mildura BMW Australian Print Triennial will run from 29 October - 1 November.

Homo-insecta at the Art Vault (Installation views and some birthday treats)

As if I wasn't spoilt enough, Anne presented me with this magnificent
birthday gift. I'm a huge admirer of Carter's work.

New Mini-Zines Part 2: Moth Women

The second zine made for Homo-insecta, my solo show at the Art Vault (see previous post) is the first of three Moth Women mini-zines. The images were sourced from the Moth Masks series of paintings and drawings I made between 2007 and 2010. The mythical Moth Women were not only the subject of one of my first fairy tales, they were also forerunners of the infamous Moth Women Vigilantes.
